What is the Glycemic Index?

The Glycemic Index is a numerical ranking of carbohydrate exchanges in foods according to their immediate affect or impact on blood glucose levels.

Chart showing the glycemic index insulin response.

Glycemic Carbs produce blood glucose and subsequent insulin response following consumption of processed foods or beverages. Low (GI) foods contribute to steadier blood sugar levels and decrease the risk of diabetes.

LOW-G products were created with diabetics, weight and health conscious consumers in mind. We worked with nutrition experts, including Dr. David Jenkins, who created the Glycemic Index. Dr Jenkins has prepared numerous papers and studies concerning the health benefits of low glycemic foods.
